An independent organization whose members
include employers and trade unions in the
private and public sectors and which concerns
itself with human problems in industry,
including the field of industrial welfare. It
was founded in 1918 by Robert Hyde as the
Boys' Welfare Association, widened its scope
and became the Industrial Welfare Society in
1918, and the Industrial Society in 1965.
